Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) located in a sprawling campus in Aligarh Uttar Pradesh is known throughout India for its good academic standards. It can be counted among the top 15 Under graduate law programs offered by universities across India.The entrance exam for BA LLB is conducted by AMU Faculty of Law, which manages the entire academic UG and PG programs.The exam is conducted once in a year normally timed after the completion of the plus 2 exams.  There are 3 campuses from where students can join and pursue their 5-year integrated BA LLB program. 

  • Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh 

  • Murshidabad in West Bengal 

  • Malappuram in Kerala 

Eligibility Criteria for AMU 5-year UG BA LLB program 2025 

To be noted by all interested candidates -

1. Educational Qualification:

  • Student- candidates should have passed their higher Secondary School exam (plus two) from a recognized board. 

  • A minimum of 50% total marks in the plus two qualifying examination.

  • Students having passed the Bridge Course-Senior Secondary School Certificate from AMU with at least 50% marks can also apply. 

2. Age Limit:

  • There is no age limit (AMU has removed age limit vide their 2025 notification)  

3. Nationality: 

  • Candidates should be Indian Citizens 

  • NRI students and certain foreign nationals are also eligible to apply, subject to terms and conditions. Student-candidates can check the AMU admission course prospectus. 

Application Process for AMU BA LLB 2025 

The application process is done online via the official AMU admission portal. The following are the sequential steps - 

1. Registration:

  • Go to the AMU admission website: www.amucontrollerexams.com

  • You will see “Apply Online" link for BA LLB 2025 – click on the same. 

  • Enter the following names - candidate name, email ID, mobile number, and other asked details in the form. 

2. Application Form details to be filled 

  • Log in to your account and enter all relevant details – personal, all educational qualifications, and contact details.  

  • The following copies have to be uploaded: candidate-student photograph, signature, and any other documents mentioned. It should be as per the specified format and size.

3. Application Fee Payment: All applicants for AMU BA LLB entrance exam have to make a payment of Rs 1000. Accepted payment modes are – net banking, UPI, credit card, debit card etc. 

4. Make a final check from first to last step before submitting the application form. Save or take a printout of the application form. 

Note: Do not make any mistakes as regards information or documents while filling the form. Changing later is impossible. 


AMU BA LLB 2025 Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The AMU BA LLB entrance exam mainly checks the candidate’s awareness for English Language, logical reasoning, and general knowledge plus current affairs. The questions can be termed as moderate to tough and few easy ones. 

1. Exam Mode & Duration:

  • The exam will be conducted in offline mode – marking through pen on OMR answer sheet 

  • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) objective type. There won’t be any descriptive answers. 

  • The exam duration will be of 2 hours in total. 

2.  Marks pattern: 

  • Every correct answer carries 1 mark.

  • Every incorrect answer carries a negative marking of .25

3. Syllabus split-up for BA LLB is as follows: 

(A) English Language Proficiency (40 Marks)

  • Vocabulary (Synonyms & Antonyms)

  • Error spotting and other Grammar questions

  • Fill in the blanks 

  • Idioms & Phrases

  • One-word substitutes 

(B) General Knowledge Current Affairs & (40 Marks)

  • Indian & International current affairs

  • Legal Awareness 

  • Important Supreme Court Judgments

  • Politics, Economy, and History

  • Static GK 

(C) Reasoning & Aptitude (20 Marks)

  • Logical Reasoning (Statement co-relations, Coding-Decoding, Blood Relations)

  • Analytical ability (Syllogisms, Number Series)


Post exam: 

1. Result Declaration:

  • The AMU BA LLB 2025 result will be announced soon after the exams. Usually maximum within 2 to three weeks of exam  

  • Candidates can check their scores and rank through their roll number and login credentials.

2. Merit List & Cut-off:

  • The cut-off marks will be based on on factors like comparative scores, total number of applicants, and total seats. 

  • The student-candidates marks of plus two will not be taken into consideration. 

Counselling & Admission Process 

Candidates who qualify based on the merit list will be invited for the counselling and admission process. The steps involved are:

1. Counselling Registration & Seat Allotment:

  • Shortlisted candidates will receive counselling call from AMU. The dates will be published on AMU website. 

  • All requisite documents as asked will have to be produced – id proofs to academic docs. 

  • Seat allotment is based on rank, seat availability, and category reservation policies.

  • If a student’s score is good, they can make campus selection of their choice.

✔ Exam Date: April 20, 2025
✔ Mode of Exam: Offline (please practice with pen and paper so that speed is maintained)
✔ Total Seats: 240 (including category reservations)
