CUSAT CAT 2025 5-Year Integrated LLB and 3-Year LLB programs

 

Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is a pan-India level highly reputed public university in Kerala. It was established in 1971. It is acknowledged for its high-level academics in STEM areas, management, law, and other humanity subjects. The university offers a plethora of   undergraduate (UG) postgraduate (PG) and other doctoral programs. The 5 Year Integrated LLB and three-year LLB courses of CUSAT is offered through its School of Legal Studies (SLS).

Selection to CUSAT LLB is done through the Combined Admission Test (CAT) which is also applicable for host of other UG courses annually for admission to different professional programs. The 5-Year Integrated LLB of CUSAT includes the following - BBA LLB, B. Com LLB, B.Sc. LLB (from 2024 onwards) and 3-Year LLB programs.

The exam dates for CUSAT CAT 2025 LLB programs have been announced. They will be held on May 10, 11, and 12, 2025.

Eligibility Criteria for CUSAT 2025 LLB 

1. Five-Year Integrated LLB Program

CUSAT offers the following integrated law courses:

  • BBA LLB (Bachelor of Business Administration along with LLB) – 30 seats 

  • B. Com LLB (Bachelor of Commerce along with LLB) – 30 seats 

  • B.Sc. LLB (Bachelor of Science along with LLB. commenced from 2024) – 25  

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates should have passed their plus two (or equivalent) examination from a recognized board anywhere in India. 

  • Science or Commerce stream candidates should have at least 60% total marks in plus two. 

  • Arts or humanities stream candidates should have at least 60% total marks in plus two. 

  • SC/ST/SEBC candidates should have a minimum of 50% total marks. 

  • A student who has qualified for 5-year LLB program should not be over 20 years of age as of July 2025

2. Three-Year LLB Program

Educational Qualification:

  • Applicants should have passed their graduation from a recognized Indian university in any discipline.

  • General category candidates should have total of 50% marks in their respective graduate discipline 

  • SC / ST / SEBC candidates should have total of 50% marks in their respective graduate discipline 

CUSAT CAT 2025 Application Process

Candidates must go through the following steps for CUSAT CAT 2025 LLB program. The application should be submitted online on the CUSAT portal.  

Step 1: Online Registration

  • Go to the official CUSAT admissions portal: admissions.cusat.ac.in.

  • A link “New Candidate Registration” can be seen. Click on that link and enter details such as   name, email, contact mobile number etc. 

  • Upon completion the applicant can generate User ID and Password. This should be used for all future logins. 

Step 2:  Application Form filling 

  • Log in with the newly acquired credentials.

  • Enter all relevant and asked details such personal details, such as academic qualifications, choice of exam centre.  preferred exam centre.

  • Candidates / applicants should select the law program which they are opting for (5-year LLB or 3-year LLB).

Step 3: Uploading Documents

Candidates have to upload documents along with a recent passport-sized photograph (JPEG format) and scanned signature. 

  • Scanned signature (JPEG format).

Step 4: The next step is exam fee payment. For the general category it is INR 1,1000. For SC / ST category it is INR 500.

Fee can be paid online through different modes like net banking, debit or credit card.  

Step 5: Submission of completed form. 

  • Go through all the filled columns carefully. Leave no scope for minor or major errors. 

  • Submit the application and save the confirmation page for all future correspondence or reference.  

Syllabus for CUSAT 2025 LLB Entrance Examination

The CUSAT CAT for LLB program entrance test is divided into the following sections. 

1. General English Awareness 

  • Synonyms and antonyms

  • Fill in the blanks – Grammar & Vocab 

  • Spot the error 

  • Idioms & phrases

  • Reading comprehension 

2. Logical Reasoning (very important section) 

  • Statement & assumption

  • Analogy 

  • Seating arrangement

  • Syllogism 

  • Number series 

  •  coding decoding

3. General Knowledge & Current Affairs

  • Indian and International current affairs 

  • Major national & international events

  • Static General Knowledge 

  • Awards, sports, meets, agreements 

4. Legal Aptitude

  • Legal principles and theories 

  • Constitution of India

  • Different types of laws - Contract, Tort, Criminal

Scoring Pattern for CUSAT CAT 2025 LLB Examinations

  • Total number of Questions: 150 Multiple-Choice Questions (There will not be any descriptive Q’s) 

Marks

  • Each correct answer carries 3 marks

  • Each negative answer carries 1 negative mark

  • So, a student who gives correct answers to all Q’s will get 450 marks 

Duration – 

 CUSAT 5-Year and 3-Year LLB exams duration will be 2 hours. 

Admission and Counselling Process

The following are the steps:

Step 1: Declaration of Results on CUSAT Portal. Normally it comes within 2 to three weeks of the exam. 

Candidates are requested to check for any updates on results on a regular basis after the exams

Candidates can log in with their application number and credentials and check their scores. 

Step 2: Counselling Registration

  • Qualifying candidates have to register for online counselling.

  • They can select their preferred LLB course. Admission to the same will be on basis of competitive scores  

Step 3: Document Verification

  • All requisite academic documents as required by SLS will have to be brought by the candidate on the day of the admission. 

  • ID proof. 

  • Any form of category certificate if the candidate is applicable for the same. 

Step 4: Seat Allotment for 5-Year integrated BBA LLB, B.com LLB, B.Sc LLB , Three year LLB

  • Please note that since CUSAT CAT LLB is a competitive exam. Allotment of seats will be made on competitive scores of the candidate. 

Step 5: Commencement of Classes for the new academic year will be notified to the students by SLS. This will be in tandem with CUSAT yearly academic calendar. 

A tentative timeline is July of every year.
