Details about the 2024–2025 CLAT Exam and Registration



The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has officially opened the CLAT Exam 2024-25 application form on July 15, 2024, at 12 pm. Aspiring law students can now register for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) through the official website - consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The deadline to submit the application form is October 15, 2024. The application fee is non-refundable and must be paid online. Candidates will also bear the bank transaction charges.

UG Syllabus and Exam Pattern

The UG-CLAT 2025 focuses on evaluating comprehension and reasoning skills rather than prior knowledge. The 2-hour test comprises 120 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 1 mark. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. The questions are divided across five subjects:

  • English Language: Passages followed by questions testing comprehension and language skills.

  • Current Affairs, including General Knowledge: Passages from news and journalistic sources, assessing awareness of contemporary events and historical significance.

  • Legal Reasoning: Passages involving legal matters or moral philosophical enquiries, requiring application of general principles.

The Consortium plans to publish preparatory materials, including sample questions, model papers, and instructional materials for each subject.
